What is Informatics?

Informatics is a science that studies the basics and theories of computing. Through this study program, students will learn how to manage data and information that they can integrate into a system that can work automatically and is assisted by technology so as to create a tool that can simplify human life.

For example, with the development of today’s current technology, a car can run on its own without having to be driven by a driver, or the emergence of smart home technology that allows equipment and tools around the house to be controlled through a device very easily. These are some examples of the application of knowledge from informatics that you can find out in everyday life.

In the future, there are far more technologies that hasn’t been developed yet and in this study program you are able to make these changes.

Profil Lulusan

Lulusan  diharapkan akan menjadi jurnalis yang mampu bekerja di berbagai jenis platform media dengan memahami perkembangan produk-produk baru jurnalistik  dan dapat memproduksi konten – konten secara multimedia yang menyesuaikan dengan kebutuhan industri saat ini.

Saat ini lulusan tersebar di berbagai bidang industri baik menjadi reporter di beberapa media baik media konvensional maupun media digital, news copywriter, creative content producer, jurnalis TV, hingga podcaster di media online bahkan terdapat lulusan Jurnalistik UMN yang menjadi Staf Jubir Presiden dan anggota Sekretariat Negara.

Curriculum

UMN Informatics students will learn about programming in various forms and also artificial intelligence during their studies at Informatics UMN. Essentially, the UMN Informatics curriculum can be explained as follows:

Year 1: students will learn about the basics of programming: an introduction to multimedia technology, algorithms and data structures. In the first year, students will also learn about the architecture and organization of computers and digital systems.

Year 2: in the second year, students will learn more about programming which includes declarative programming, object-oriented programming and web programming. Then students also learn about the foundation of systems: both operating systems and data-based systems. Alongside this, they will also be introduced to software engineering and software project management as well as knowledge of computer security and networks.

Year 3: students will learn about the interaction between humans and computers and programming of mobile applications through the knowledge of artificial intelligence in the third year. Then throughout same year, they will also learn about corporate business processes and also technopreneurship to prepare them to be ready to work in the world of business industry in the future.

Year 4: students will be prepared with the knowledge of cross-platform mobile programming and thematic system projects.

In this fourth year, students will be engaged in internships at large companies and startups and is the year for them to prepare for their graduation.

Partnership & Collaborations

The UMN Informatics study program has collaborated with several parties both nationally and internationally. At the national level, this study program collaborates with GRID from Japan in the field of machine learning & depth learning research. Then, collaborating to support teaching and learning activities such as apprenticeship programs, holding workshop seminars, to scholarship programs with several companies such as ECE-COUNCIL, CSO, HUAWEI, SAP, RENOM INFRASTRUCTURE INDONESIA, BCA, TOKOPEDIA, BUKALAPAK, OURACLE, ANABATIK and etc.

Furthermore, in the international sphere, collaborating with GRID from Japan in conducting research related to Machine Learning and Depth Learning. Adjacent to this, UMN Informatics has been registered as part of APTIKOM (Association of Computer and Informatics Higher Education).

Kerja Sama Akademik

Teknik Elektro UMN telah bekerja sama dengan RFH Jerman dalam penyusunan model praktikum dan pelaksanaan praktikum dan pelaksanaan praktikum jarak jauh untuk mata kuliah Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Mahasiswa Teknik Elektro Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) melakukan simulasi perbaikan program sistem manufaktur pabrik secara jarak jauh. Proses perbaikan tersebut dilakukan di ruang Laboratorium Automasi Industri UMN. Sedangkan sistem manufaktur pabrik yang diperbaiki berada di Laboratorium Automasi (Automatisierunglabor) Rheinische Fachhochshule (RFH) Cologne Jerman. Perbaikan sistem manufaktur tersebut merupakan kegiatan Remote Lab Live Session dengan arahan Mr. Patrick Terber dari Rheinische Fachhochshule (RFH) Cologne Jerman. Dalam kegiatan tersebut, mahasiswa Teknik Elektro UMN dibagi menjadi dua kelompok. Mereka bekerja sama untuk memecahkan masalah yang terjadi pada sistem di RFH Cologne. Pola kerja yang diterapkan adalah kompetitif kolaboratif, di mana kelompok yang menemukan solusi terlebih dahulu dapat memberikan masukan dan bantuan kepada pendekatan masalah dari kelompok lainnya

Beasiswa Mahasiswa

Jalur beasiswa UMN diberikan bagi siswa-siswi SMA Kelas XII yang memiliki prestasi akademik, olah raga, dan kesenian pada saat di kelas XI. Selain itu, UMN memberikan  kepada siswa-siswi SMA/SMK yang memiliki prestasi mendapatkan medali pada Olimpiade Sains Nasional dan Internasional.. Sebagai wujud penghargaan atas pengabdian para guru dan para karyawan/staff dalam mendidik anak bangsa, UMN memberikan beasiswa berupa pengurangan uang pangkal sebesar 50% bagi anak guru/kepala sekolah dan pengurangan uang pangkal sebesar 30% bagi anak karyawan/staff di sekolah SMA/SMK Negeri/Swasta yang ingin melanjutkan pendidikan di UMN.

Pertemuan Bimbingan Akademik

Mahasiswa diharuskan untuk mengikuti bimbingan akademik minimal 3 kali per semester. Jadwal bimbingan akademik akan diberikan oleh dosen pembimbing akademik masing-masing. Buku bimbingan akademik harus dibawa pada saat melakukan bimbingan akademik dan harus ditandatangani oleh dosen pembimbing akademik.

Continuing Education Department

Continuing Education Department (CED) adalah program pengembangan pendidikan di Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) yang merupakan bagian dari Grup Kompas Gramedia. Kami memiliki berbagai program dalam kursus bahasa, pengembangan manusia, Pusat Pengujian untuk sertifikasi nasional dan internasional, dan program pelatihan. CED UMN dirancang untuk memenuhi kebutuhan siswa sekolah menengah dan perguruan tinggi, serta masyarakat dan profesional.

Informasi Magang

Mahasiswa dianjurkan mencari sendiri perusahaan / instansi penerima kerja
magang yang sesuai dengan fokus Program Studi Teknik Elektro yaitu bidang
Industrial Automation. Informasi lowongan kerja magang dapat diperoleh dari
mahasiswa-mahasiswa lain, media sosial, job fair, iklan di media cetak ataupun
elektronik dan juga dapat menghubungi staf di Career Development Center (CDC)
UMN.

Informasi Skripsi

Untuk menyelesaikan jenjang pendidikan Program Sarjana Strata-1 (S-1) di Universitas Multimedia Nusantara, mahasiswa harus menyusun, mempresentasikan, dan mempertahankan skripsi, di hadapan dewan penguji skripsi, sesuai dengan ketentuan program studi. Penyusunan skripsi
dilakukan secara perorangan dan dibimbing oleh dosen pembimbing yang dapat
dipilih langsung oleh mahasiswa dengan persetujuan dosen pembimbing tersebut.

Gear melambangkan dunia keteknikan yang memiliki prinsip teknik yaitu menyelesaikan permasalahan dengan solusi yang tepat. Gear memiliki 10 mata gear terbuka untuk dapat menyatukan keberagaman mahasiswa teknik dengan rasa kekeluargaan sehingga saling terhubung satu sama lain. Gear berwarna biru melambangkan HIMFERA termasuk salah satu himpunan pada Fakultas Teknik dan Informatika di Universitas Multimedia Nusantara.

Daun

2. Daun

Daun melambangkan sustainable (berkelanjutan). Berkelanjutan yang dimaksud memiliki peribahasa, kelangsungan hidup daun di pohon selalu bertumbuh dan berkelanjutan. Bahkan ketika daun telah gugur, daun ini tetap bermanfaat menjadi pupuk bagi kelangsungan hidup pohon itu sendiri dan atau sekitarnya. Oleh karena itu, berdirinya HIMFERA bertujuan memberikan manfaat bagi anggota-anggota himpunan dalam berorganisasi dan dapat memberikan karya terbaik untuk almamater dan masyarakat di sekitarnya sehingga manfaat yang didapatkan tetap berkelanjutan. Warna hijau pada daun melambangkan keterbukaan HIMFERA dalam berkomunikasi dan menerima aspirasi mahasiswa Teknik Fisika dan Teknik Elektro di Universitas Multimedia Nusantara.

3. Kilatan Petir

Petir pada daun menjadi dasar tonggak dari daun tersebut. Dasar tonggak ini menentukan arah dari perjalanan organisasi kami untuk mewujudkan tujuan dari HIMFERA. Seperti kita ketahui bahwa sifat petir memiliki kekuatan yang sangat besar. Oleh karena itu, kami terinspirasi dari ilmuwan Benjamin Franklin saat menangkap petir menggunakan layangan dan energi tersebut dapat terkumpul menjadi muatan listrik yang bermanfaat untuk menghidupkan listrik. Dari sini kami memetik manfaat dari petir tersebut yaitu menjadi organisasi yang memiliki kemampuan mengambil keputusan yang sigap, tepat, dan dapat menjadi solusi ditengah permasalahan yang ada. Petir yang tidak berwarna untuk mencerminkan prinsip kerja yang transparansi. Transparansi bermakna keterbukaan dan pertanggung-jawaban atas keputusan yang sudah dibuat.

Untuk menyelesaikan Program Sarjana di Program Studi Teknik Elektro UMN dan lulusan dengan gelar Sarjana Teknik (S.T.), mahasiswa harus memenuhi beberapa persyaratan berikut:

  1. Telah menyelesaikan jumlah Satuan Kredit Semester (SKS) sejumlah 146 SKS, dimana dalam SKS tersebut telah termasuk SKS mata kuliah wajib dan SKS mata kuliah pilihan yang pada umumnya dapat diselesaikan dalam kurun waktu 8 semester.
  2. Telah menyesaikan 20 Point SKKM kegiatan Non-Akademik/Ekstrakurikuler sesuai dengan aturan UMN yang berlaku.
  3. Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) sekurang–kurangnya 2,00 dan tidak ada nilai E dan/atau F.
  4. Nilai Agama, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Inggris, Kewarganegaraan, Pancasila minimal C. Nilai D maksimal 2 mata kuliah selain Agama, Bahasa Indonesia, Bahasa Inggris, Kewarganegaraan, Pancasila, Tugas Akhir, dan mata kuliah yang ditetapkan oleh program studi.
  5. Telah menyelesaikan kerja magang dan lulus ujian kerja magang.
  6. Telah menyelesaikan Skripsi dan lulus ujian Skripsi.

SERTIFIKASI

Green Building Training

UMN bekerjasama dengan Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) untuk menyelenggarakan pelatihan dan sertifikasi Greenship Associate di UMN setiap awal bulan desember. Pelatihan ini merupakan fasilitas bagi mahasiswa teknik fisika UMN dan juga masyarakat luar untuk memperoleh pengalaman belajar dan juga sertifikat di bidang green building. Informasi lanjut mengenai pelatihan ini dapat menghubungi ced[at]umn.ac.id .

Information Literacy

Information literacy atau literasi informasi merupakan sebuah kemampuan yang dimiliki individu dalam menentukan, mencari, mengelola, mengevaluasi informasi secara efektif dan efisien. Pelatihan ini terbuka bagi Mahasiswa aktif UMN. Informasi lebih lanjut dapat menghubungi: library.umn.ac.id

Saya mendapatkan banyak ilmu dari sisi teori dan praktik saat berkuliah di UMN. Meskipun banyak yang bilang dunia kuliah dan kerja itu berbeda, tapi dasar ilmu yang kita pakai itu tetap berasal dari bangku kuliah dan diberikan improvement dalam pekerjaan. UMN memberikan dasar ilmu itu semua dengan sangat baik. Juga UMN memberikan ilmu untuk berani berpikir secara kritis dalam menganalisis suatu masalah atau keinginan dari customer kita.
